September birthday dinner

Normally when my siblings or nieces and nephews have birthdays I like to take them out to eat, where ever they want to go. But this month I was a slacker and didn't get it done on the September birthday girls actual birthdays. So we combined...Sara my sister in law, Kyla my niece (Holly's daughter) and Elysa my niece (Kristeen's daughter...all got to go out to eat together last night.

We went to Texas Roadhouse, Elysa (the mashed potatoe QUEEN!) wanted to try their mashed potatoes and Kyla just wanted to go because that was her parent's favorite place to eat when they lived in Texas. Before we got to the restaurant Kyla was WAY excited to sit on the birthday saddle. She watched the wait staff do a couple of birthdays and all of the sudden decided she really didn't want to do it...

Then the food came. Elysa polished off her birthday mashed potatoes (next year I'm going to make her mashed potatoes shaped like a birthday cake and frosted with gravy), but Kyla didn't seem to like her hotdog...what she did like was a piece of the ribs that I ordered.

Sara was really nice and asked our server if she could bring over the saddle without the entorage. Our server dragged over the saddle, sans clapping and shouting, and all 3 birthday girls tried it out. The food was good and we had a fun time.

After dinner the girls came to my house and we walked the dogs up to the school by my house (bridger) and they played on the slides for a while. We got otter pops for dessert and then I took them home. When I dropped Kyla off Caden saw the bag of leftovers and started chanting "cheeseburger, cheeseburger", it was almost an LOL cat moment.

photo slacker

Ok so I haven't uploaded any photos from my crappy little point and shoot digital camera for the entire last year. So, since today is the first Saturday in recent memory that I don't have anything to do, I'm getting it done.

This first photo is of the snow cornice that develops on our roof after it snows and the wind blows...there were more interesting looking ones but they fell off before I could get a picture.

These photos are of Annie's first trip to the vet and some photos of her adjusting to life at home with us and Molly. I like the one where she is learning to shake her head side to side, it looks like she is flapping her ears and trying to fly.

Then there was Megan's baptism. I gave my camera to the kids to keep them happy...so these are photos taken by Kyla, Cardon, Elayna, and me.

I took these photos of Mike's niece Rylee sometime this past spring.

In May Dave and Kendra and the kids packed up their house and moved to Seattle. These are some photos from the memorial day weekend move.

In June I had dinner with my friend Teena in Layton, these are photos of her baby Shaelynn...she is the sweetest and friendliest baby!

These last 2 were taken in a spice vendor's tent at the Blacksmith Fork Mountain Man Rendezvous this year.

Engagement Photos

Last Saturday my brother Rob and and his fiance Stacey picked up Mike and me and we drove out to Paradise Valley Orchards to get the first fresh-pressed cider of the fall.

While we were there I used Rob's very cool camera (it was smarter than I was) to take some photos of the happy couple to use in their wedding anouncements. I kept pushing the wrong buttons on the camera (which seems to have more technology than the first space shuttle) and so a lot of the photos came out blurry. Here are a few of the good ones, the very last sepia toned one is the one they chose for the invitations.

This is my favorite, I still think they should have picked it for the anouncements "What you mean we're getting married?!?!"

While we were at the Old Rock Church in Providence (checking out the garden area where the ceremony is going to be held), a friendly old yellow lab started following us around. She was very friendly and her tags said her name was Phoebe. When we went back to the truck to leave she thought she was coming with us and wanted to get in the truck.
