Winter Gift Market & Gallery Walk this week

The Logan Downtown Alliance is hosting the December Gallery Walk this week. The walk will go from 6pm to 9pm on Friday, December 4th. There are 14 downtown locations and 1 location on south Main in the Riverwoods complex. It is free and open to the general public.

Also this week is the Cache Valley Gardener's Market annual Winter Gift Market. It will be held Friday and Saturday, December 4th & 5th, at the Bullen Center. It features glass work, beads, fiber art, clothing, jewelry, soaps, food, wreaths and lots of other great gift ideas. Entrace is FREE!

One of my favorite stores in Logan is now open all week, Global Village Gifts. It is on 100 East next to Sunrise Cyclery. GVG is a non-profit fair trade organization that helps third world artisans develop their craft and sell it on the world market. They help prevent explotation while promoting these wonderful cultures. They sell handmade gifts that you can't find in a mall or at Walmart. They have clothing items, jewelry, musical instruments, home decor, food, and toys. Go check them out!

New Baby!

Hickman grandbaby #12 is HERE!

Little No-Name-Boy Haslem was born early this morning. He is 8lbs 1oz and healthy, mom and baby are doing well. Since Holly and Brent haven't picked a name yet I'm going to keep calling him MidgetBritches until they decide.

Go Roseville, CA!

This is a great idea. If everyone gets together and donates or spends a little, and people are willing to donate their time, it can go a long way to cheering up a lot of men and women who are doing a very dangerous job to keep us safe. So many people say "I support our troops" but too few actually lift a finger to do something to actually support them.

They list a lot of great items in there but one that really comes in handy is powdered drink mixes. The water doesn't always taste great so powdered gatorade or other drink mixes can go a long way to making it more palatable.

Glass Art

So I have this super-talented glassblower friend from California named Kim, who makes stunning glass art; bowls, vases, pitchers, paperweights. Since I love this friend, I do not want her to be a STARVING artist, so I'm promoting her stuff everywhere and I'm trying to talk her into opening an Etsy shop or an Ebay store.

The following photos are of her work, most of which she has sold or given away but some of it is available for purchase. Oh yeah and she took all the photos too...don't you just hate talented people?

I wish I owned this one, I think it looks like a 3D Georgia O'Keefe painting.

I own this one.
My oldest sister owns this one, the photo below is a shot of the inside of the bowl.

I own this one too.
I wish I owned this one.

I own this last vase, it lives on the window ledge above my kitchen sink and it makes me happy everytime I see it.
