Salt Lake health officials confirm local case of measles; Olympus students sent home - ksl.com
My uncle died from the measles. He and my mother both caught measles when they were very young. My grandparents originally called the doctor because they were worried about my mother, she had the typical rash and was acting very ill, her brother was languid but didn't have a rash so they didn't think it was as serious.
When the doctor looked at the kids he said something along the lines of 'she will be fine, but he is very sick and needs to go to the hospital immediately'. It turns out that my uncle's measles outbreak manifested itself internally which is much more severe than the kind that shows up in red bumps on the skin. He never recovered and died shortly after being taken to the hospital.
Now that medical science has completely debunked the myth that vaccinations cause autism THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO EXCUSE TO NOT GET YOUR CHILD IMMUNIZED! I cannot state this strongly enough: VACCINATIONS SAVE LIVES! Get your child immunized by age 2, keep good immunization records, and get them vaccine boosters when recommended by your pediatrician. Protect your children, yourself, and everyone you know by taking your kids to get their immunizations. Many inoculations for common illnesses are now in nasal form...saving mom and child the trauma of a shot.
