The Merrill-Cazier Library is presenting Ka-pow! Graphic Novels, an exhibition on graphic novels used in academia. It will be shown in the atrium of the Merrill-Cazier Library from Oct. 24 through Dec. 10. A formal opening reception is Thursday, Nov. 10, at 4 p.m. in room 101 of the Library where several USU professors will discuss the use of graphic novels in their current classroom curriculum. Dr Keith Hammond and Dr Celeste Mortenson want to send some sweets to our troops in gratitude for protecting our freedoms. We are hosting a “Halloween Candy Buy Back”. So, all you Trick or Treaters bring your candy to our office at 290 N 200 East in Logan on Tuesday, Nov 1st and Wed, Nov 2nd, and we will give you one dollar per pound for your candy. Then the care packages, full of treats, will be sent to our troops overseas.

Looking for something fun to do after school? Then come to the library for Teen Tuesdays. Beginning September 6th, we'll be doing something fun every Tuesday at 4:00 pm. If you like to create things or show off your artistic skills, this activity is for you. On the first Tuesday of each month we'll make a different craft. Some months we'll recycle cereal boxes into pencil cases. Other months we'll make wallets out of duct tape. Every month we'll have fun, and you'll get a creation to take home. Caine College of the Arts Dean, Dr. Craig Jessop will present a seminar on the Benjamin Britten War Requiem, Opus 66 on Tuesday at 7:00 pm in the auditorium of Edith Bowen School. Attendees may receive discounts on the future purchase of Britten War Requiem tickets for the American Festival Chorus and Orchestra concert on November 12 at the Ellen Eccles Theatre in Logan. The American Festival Chorus and Orchestra performances (in Salt Lake’s Cathedral of the Madeleine and in the Eccles theater) of the War Requiem mark a number of significant anniversaries. 2013 is the hundredth anniversary of Britten’s birth, and May of 2012 is the 50th anniversary of the original performance at the dedication of Coventry Cathedral. There will be a free screening of the HBO movie "Temple Grandin," featuring Claire Daines. The movie depicts the life of Dr. Grandin, a world renowned advocate, author and speaker on animal welfare and autism spectrum disorder. She was diagnosed with autism as a child. She went on to design humane cattle handling systems and revolutionize the way the animals were treated. The movie screening is in advance of Dr. Grandin's visit to the Utah State University campus on November 2. Where: The TSC Auditorium, USU Campus. Open to: Everyone! The Cache Valley Fun Park hosts Old Skool Skate Night! It starts at 9pm -11 pm. This day is also $2 Tuesday, so any activity this day costs only $2! Befriending the Fun Park on Facebook can give you great deals (especially on Old Skool Night) if you check their page before heading in.
