2011 USU CERAMICS GUILD CHILI BOWL SALE
It's that time of year again! Next Wednesday the USU Ceramics Guild will be hosting their annual Chili Bowl sale. Come pick up some unique and hand thrown bowls, support student artists, and have a great lunch all at the same time. Bowls are created by students and faculty and prices start around $8 and go up from there. When you purchase a bowl you get a free bowl of chili. Where: The TSC Lower Patio. When: 9am to 4pm, rain or shine.
KA-POW! GRAPHIC NOVEL EXHIBITION
The Merrill-Cazier Library is presenting Ka-pow! Graphic Novels, an exhibition on graphic novels used in academia. It will be shown in the atrium of the Merrill-Cazier Library from Oct. 24 through Dec. 10. A formal opening reception is Thursday, Nov. 10, at 4 p.m. in room 101 of the Library where several USU professors will discuss the use of graphic novels in their current classroom curriculum. THE CLOTHESLINE PROJECT
"The Clothesline Project - Fighting Violence Against Women" will be displayed in the TSC International Lounge on the USU Campus, and is sponsored by the Center for Women and Gender. The Clothesline Project (CLP) began in 1990 as a program to address the issue of violence against women. It is a vehicle for women affected by violence to express their emotions by decorating a shirt. They then hang the shirt on a clothesline to be viewed by others as testimony to the problem of violence against women. USU LIBRARIES CELEBRATE OPEN ACCESS!
The Merrill-Cazier Library will celebrate International Open Access Week Oct. 24-28. Did you ever wonder why you couldn’t get access to all of the information you need for your research? Everyone can get an answer to that and much more at a table (with candy!) in the Merrill-Cazier Library foyer between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. during Open Access Week. Librarians will be on hand to answer such questions, explain the scholarly communications crisis and provide helpful ideas on how you can help liberate research. The campus community is also invited to join a panel discussion that explores the topic “Do we have a right to knowledge?” Ethicist Erica Holberg, physicist Charlie Torre and USU Press Director Michael Spooner present their unique perspectives on our right to knowledge and the open access movement in general. The discussion is Wednesday Oct. 26, 4:30 p.m., at Merrill-Caizer Library Room 101, followed by refreshments. United States Senator Orrin Hatch will speak to students, faculty, and the general public at a Pizza and Politics event hosted by the Utah State College Republicans on Wednesday, October 26th from 4-5 p.m. on campus in the Taggart Student Center (TSC)auditorium. The event is free and open to the public. Senator Hatch will speak briefly and then take questions from the audience.

LITTLE BEAR BOTTOMS CORN MAZE
Little Bear Bottoms is a family farm that grows sod and corn. We are basically a non-profit organization like many of the other farmers around here. Our corn mazes are a ton of fun. From our Hay forts to the snowmobile grass drag races to the Haunted River trail it is our goal to offer a variety of activities associated with fall and Halloween to make Little Bear Bottoms fun for people of all ages. Many of the haunters are our own kids or friends and neighbors who live nearby. We just happen to have a spooky barn and a great place along the river for a spook alley, so we just want to invite everyone in to enjoy it with us. Sigma Tau Delta's Poe in the Dark takes place Wednesday, Oct. 26th, 7 p.m. in BNR room 102 on the USU Campus. Pain Management Support Group (Soakers Club) meets every Wednesday night at 715p.m. and Sundays at 2p.m. in the parking lot of Square One Printing (630 W 200 North, Logan) to car pool over to Crystal Hot Springs for a few hours of soaking in the warm mineral pools.
