FORGOTTEN PHOTOGRAPHS OF THE UNION PACIFIC RAILROAD
The exhibit, assembled by Special Collections and Archives Photograph Curator Daniel Davis, explores the history of the Union Pacific Railroad through photographs of A. J. Russell. The exhibit presents several of the well-known and idealized scenes of the railroad’s construction (1868-69) as photographed by Russell while under the commission of the Union Pacific Railroad. In addition to the well-known images, the exhibit presents examples of stereo-views taken by Russell and other photographers that offer a more complete and less sanitized version of the railroad’s history. A reception for the exhibit is planned Feb. 15 in conjunction with a lecture by Davis for the Friends of Merrill-Cazier Library. Where: The Merrill-Cazier Library. POSTER EXHIBIT: DISABILITY HISTORY
The exhibit includes panels that outline the history of disability and advocacy. This walk through 3000 years of the human condition is remarkably detailed. It’s sometimes shocking, sometimes poignant, and always informative. Location: Merrill-Cazier Library, Room: 034 (Special Collections area in the basement level). Open To: Public. MOM OR DAD & ME ICE SKATING
Mom or Dad & Me sessions are held from 10 to 11:30 a.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays at the Eccles Ice Center. Location: 2825 N. 200 East. MARION R. HYDE EXHIBIT
This exhibition will highlight the most recent work of Utah State’s emeritus professor of art, Marion R. Hyde. Professor Hyde retired from the Department of Art in 2002 after more than 33 years of dedicated service that included 12 years as department head. Since retirement, Professor Hyde has been working in oil and pastel to create images that both represent and abstract the Utah landscape. We're pleased to present a wide selection of his best works to you during this opening exhibition of the 2012 season. An opening social will be held Jan. 18 at 4:30 p.m. in the Tippets Exhibit Hall. SACRED CHANTING WITH VISITING MUSICIAN LERAINE
Salt Lake City, Sacred Chanting Artist "Leraine" will perform live Kirtan (sacred chanting and songs) Wednesday, January 25, at 7:00 pm, at the Unitarian Universalist Church, 695 Eeast 900 North, Logan. Leraine will be appearing as a guest musician at the Amrita Sangha, a local, non-profit, weekly meditation group. Leraine will treat guests to the music of Didgeridoo, flute, guitar and her angelic voice. Tea will be served. All ages welcome. Suggested donation, $8 - $15, but no one will be turned away.

AN EVENING OF ONE ACT PLAYS
Student produced, directed and performed one act plays. Two different groups of plays, Group A and Group B. Group A shows 7:30pm on Jan. 23, 25 and 27, Group B shows at 7:30pm on Jan. 24, 26 and 28. Group A is rated Mature for some profanity and sexual references, Group B is appropriate for General Audiences, with brief strong language. Group A one act plays: "Life Under Water" by Richard Greenberg, "Naomi in the Living Room" by Christopher Durang, "Noon" by Terrence McNally. Group B one act plays: "Chinamen" by Michael Frayn, "Something Unspoken" by Tennessee William, "The Actor's Nightmare" by Christopher Durang.
