Dessert Grilled Cheese Sandwiches

Why should grilled cheese sandwiches only be savory?  They shouldn't, any other answer is wrong, sorry but wrong.  Wanna know why?  Behold:

That my friends is a cream cheese, banana, Nutella grilled cheese sandwich.  And it is ridiculous...ridiculously delicious.  So tasty it necessitated the invention of a new word to describe how good it really is.

I'll show you step by step how I made this DGCS in a few photos, pay attention:

Assemble your ingredients.
Spread about 1 to 2 tablespoons of cream cheese on one slice and the same amount of spread (in this case Nutella) on the other slice.
Top with about 1/4 cup of sliced or chopped fruit, today I chose banana.
If the butter is soft, spread about 1/2 tablespoon of it onto the bread.  If it isn't soft you can melt it directly in the pan like so.
Add the sandwich and toast over medium low heat for a few minutes on each side, until golden brown.
When completely toasted on both sides remove from heat and cut on the diagonal.  Because leaving it whole or cutting it any other way is a sin and if you do that I can't be your friend any more.  I'm sorry but I just can't.
Serve with a glass of cold milk and try not to swallow the sammich whole.
Don't like Nutella?  Don't like bananas?  Ok, be that way, but you can substitute whatever you want.  Here's a couple lists of fillings you might want to try.  Just pick one item from each category and throw it together in a grilled cheese.

Cheeses:
Marscapone
Ricotta
Cream Cheese
Chevre

Spreads:
Peanut Butter
Biscoff
Nutella
Jam
Jelly
Marmalade
Honey
Maple Syrup
Marshmallow Fluff
Butter whipped with brown sugar and cinnamon

Fillings:
Chopped Nuts
Berries
Apples
Bananas
Pumpkin
Coconut
Pineapple
Pears
Apricots
Peaches

For example I think chevre with honey butter and fresh peaches with a sprinkling of brown sugar sounds amazing...but I don't have of that in my house at the moment.  Another good combination would be marscapone, strawberries, and nutella.  Or how about cream cheese, apple, peanut butter.  Now if you'll excuse me, this smells amazing and I'm starving, go make your own.

This looks delicious. Grilled cheeses are my weakness. Have you read the blog Grilled Cheese Social. It's food porn if I ever saw it.

A grilled cheese shop called The Melty way recently opened just down the street from us. I haven't brought myself to try it yet because I know that when I do, I'll be addicted.

I'm going to have to check that blog out. I fell in love with grilled cheeses when I worked at my uncle's pizza restaurant. We were always customizing them for people with adding different cheeses, sauces, veggies, meats, eggs...you name it, it went into a grilled cheese.

I will definitely have to try that restaurant the next time I'm down south. Thanks for the heads up.
