Weekend Events

So maybe cowboy music and poetry isn't your thing.  There are still plenty of things to do around the valley this weekend.  The university has several interesting events going on that you should check out.

#1 - Amit Peled @ USU Performance Hall
Friday night at 7:30pm the Wassermann Festival is hosting Amit Peled, guest cellist and acclaimed as one of the most exciting instrumentalists performing today, in performance. Peled is a strong advocate of breaking boundaries between performers and the public as well as promoting and sharing classical music with wider audiences. He will be performing the music of Beethoven, Brahms, Mendelssohn and others.  Admission: $24 adults, $20 USU faculty/staff, $5 students with ID.  Website: http://arts.usu.edu

#2 - Pow Wow @ USU Field House
Traditionally, Pow Wow's served a number of functions. They were held in the spring to celebrate the new beginning of life. Honoring warriors, personal achievements, and ceremonies for dropped eagle feathers are still part of Pow Wows today. The Pow-Wow preserves a deep, lasting sense of family, pride and tradition. Behind the display of dance, music and vibrant regalia are sacred legends and meanings.  Friday and Saturday, March 1-2, USU will host the 40th annual "Echoing Traditional Ways" Pow Wow.  Admission: $4 USU Student w/ ID - $3 Seniors, 65+ - $3 Children Under 7 - FREE *Group rates available for non-profit organizations. #3 - Photography Workshop @ USU Performance Hall
The American Society of Media Photographers presents a free daylong workshop featuring four presentations designed to give students, aspiring and professional photographers a solid understanding of how to run the business side of your commercial or fine art photography business. #4 - African Banquest @ USU TSC
Come experience the foods and cultures of Africa at this annual banquet held in the Evan N. Stevenson Ballroom.  When: Saturday at 7pm.  Admission: $12 Students; $15 Non-Students.  Contact: Ami Meite
