I've still got 30 minutes of Halloween yet, let me enjoy it while I can...

I hope you enjoyed your Halloween.  I managed to stop by 2 haunted houses this year; 10th West Scare House, and Dark Meadows Manor.  If you went to the 10th West Scare House, you can like them on Facebook and tag the photo of you passing the scare-cam.  I am of course all nostril in our shot.  My apologies to N. for me crushing her hand in this shot.

Even if you didn't go to the spook alley, looking at everyone's scare-cam photos is pretty entertaining.  But, seriously, are my nostrils really that big?!?

Happy Halloween

Happy Halloween/Samhain/Thursday!  Have you carved your pumpkins/turnips/fingers yet?  I decided to go the relatively stitches free route and use a power drill to make my jack o lantern this year.  It's probably a good thing my father doesn't know how to use the interwebz, or I'd be in big trouble right now.

A Yellow Wood

by Robert Frost

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that, the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I--
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

El Salvador Restaurant

It's baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack!  I'm so excited that El Salvador Restaurant is now open in their new location.  Formely known as Pupuseria El Salvador, this new restaurant is located next to Savannah's BBQ in part of the former Firehouse Pizzeria location.  Same awesome food in a wonderful new locations.  Go ahead and pretend you're not excited, but where else can you get a good dinner for under $4?!?  Here are a few photos from my first trip to their new place last weekend.

2013 JJ Cole Warehouse Sale

Brace yourselves for the stampede.  It is time for the annual JJ Cole Warehouse Sale.  I don't have kids, but I like to go and pick up a few items to keep on hand for baby gifts.  I especially love the diaper tote.

Good News / Bad News

Good News: The first song I heard on the radio today was this:

Bad News: It was on the "Oldies" stations.  Seriously?  SERIOUSLY?!?  *sigh*

Welcome to The Weekend

Who doesn't love the weekend?  Weekends conjure up thoughts of relaxation and fun.  Weekends are a chance to unwind and take a break from the rat race.  Weekends are the best part of the week.  Now you can enjoy that feeling any day of the week at The Weekend cafe in downtown Logan.

This new cafe is locally owned and operated.  It offers sandwiches, Ibis coffee, espresso, tea, Italian sodas, and locally made treats.  The space is fresh, laid back, and inviting.  It's a great spot to grab a drink and a snack and settle in for a chat with friends.

The space also doubles as a small scale art gallery.  The art work, including the mural on the wall, is all done by the fabulous Mariah Rupp, an art major at USU.

I tried a brownie and an Italian soda with cream.  The brownie was everything a brownie it should be, think, rich, and halfway between fudge and cake with large chunks of chopped chocolate all through out.  I asked for suggestions for the soda and ended up going with Lavender/Coconut and loved it.

The Weekend Cafe is owned by Jenny Shepherd.  Her husband, Zach Shepherd, owns Directive Boardshop which is adjacent to the cafe in the former Joyride Bikes location, a few doors down from the Ellen Eccles Theatre.

You can find The Weekend on facebook and instagram.  Or just stop by and check it out in person at 57 S Main St, Logan, UT.  They aren't just opened on the weekends.  The cafe is open Monday through Saturday from 10am to 10pm.

A Couple More October Activities

If this post and this post didn't give you enough things to do in Cache Valley this month, then I guess I'll have to add a few more to your list.

The Whittier Center is having a Halloween Festival.

Lee's Marketplace is offering free Halloween Trick Or Treating for kids accompanied by an adult.

And Macey's in Providence will have Trick Or Treating on Saturday, October 26th.

MSP - Part 2A

Saturday was the big day, the wedding day, the whole reason I schlepped myself to Minneapolis.  The morning started off with sleeping in and then meeting Cordelia and Caitlin for breakfast.  As always, we kept it classy.  Thanks for the extra pancakes Bearclaw!

After we'd eaten and woken up enough to safely operate a motor vehicle, the bridal party headed over to the salon so the they could get all beautified.  And by beautified I do mean "they got their hair did girlfriend!", I went along to document the morning.

After that we headed back to the hotel and entered into the next chapter of full blown wedding mania, but that's a post for another day.
