Back in my misspent youth I had some rebel rousing NYEs and quickly learned why it's frequently referred to as "Amateur Night". We're STILL not allowed to talk about that horrible NYE in Sun Valley...in fact I have a bad track record with all of central Idaho, so let's just move on, shall we? (Don't worry Southeast and North Idaho, we're still on good terms, I think.)
These days most of my NYE plans involve taking a nap after work, hanging out with my family at my parents home playing games, noshing on fondue and appetizers, and then running out into the driveway to bang pots and pans at midnight. We used to do fireworks until a roman candle exploded in my hand a few years ago (luckily I still have all my digits)...now not so much with the fireworks any more. My plans are nothing really spectacular or glamorous, but it's still fun in a relaxing and low-key kind of way.
If you are the kind of person who loves to get dressed up and go out dancing or to a nice dinner on NYE, never fear! Logan has a few options this year. A few years ago Logan city gave up on trying to host NYE activities, and so the options are more limited than they used to be. Several valley restaurants are hosting special NYE buffets or multi course dinners, there is Latin dancing at the Whittier Center, and an LDS dance for 31-45 year old singles. I'll post as many event flyers here as I can find. If you know of an event you want to add to the list, just leave a comment and I'll get it posted.
If fitness is more your thing, after New Year's Eve is over you can start the new year off by ice skating at the Merlin Olsen Park rink which is scheduled to open some time between January 1st and 3rd. The second week in January the Logan Rec Center is offering free aerobics classes. UPDATE: This article about the skating rink was in this morning's Herald Journal: http://news.hjnews.com/news/article_6c110a6e-71c2-11e3-9e53-0019bb2963f4.html
Who wants to go ice skating with me on new year's day?
So, what are you doing for NYE this year?
I don't have a flyer for it, but the Cracker Barrel Café in Paradise is hosting a NYE dinner. You can view prices and the menu here http://crackerbarrelparadise.com/nyemenu
Riverdale Resort near Preston, ID is having a New Year's Eve party that includes admission to the hot pools, music from a live band in the main pavilion, movies by the pools, and light refreshments until 1am...all for the regular cost of admission. Check out their facebook page for more information.
